Rabbi Courtney Berman
Rabbi Courtney Berman earned her B.A. in Child Psychology and Jewish Studies from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Upon completion of college, she started the Rabbinical Program at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) and was ordained in May 2015 in Los Angeles, CA. During her time at HUC-JIR, Rabbi Berman served as the student rabbi in Pine Bluff, AR for a year and in Piqua, OH for two years. She studied pastoral counseling as a chaplain intern at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH and was a rabbinic intern at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. She also had several other internships that helped with her rabbinic growth, and she has taught at many religious schools and spent time working at several Jewish summer camps, including Camp Coleman. This year, she has been the visiting rabbi at a congregation in Sherman, TX. Rabbi Berman is passionate about helping people connect to one another in meaningful and spiritual ways through Jewish education, worship services, and social gatherings. She shares her life with her husband of seven years, Jeffrey Berman.
Rabbi Barry Altman, Emeritus
Rabbi Barry Altman is the Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Beth-El in Ormond Beach, FL. He was a Senior Rabbi from 1975 until his retirement in 2014 and previous to that, he was associate Rabbi at Temple Beth Am, in Miami. He has also served congregations in West Virginia, Guatemala and Hawaii.
Rabbi Altman is on the faculty at Stetson University. He has taught at Bethune Cookman College with the rank of Associate Professor. His many community activities include, past president of the Halifax Area Ministerial Association, board member of the United Way, Family Renew Community Center, and Habitat for Humanity.
